“Obstacles are not stopping stones.
They are stepping stones”

Dear friends,

‘’Often we perceive a person with an appealing face and good English as good HR. It can be an error in perception’’.

Similar realities strikes as you enter job market. Let me quote some:

  • Not all the engineers are working in IT industry or all the MBA’s are working as managers.
  • Just because you have successfully completed your MBA with HR specialization won’t guarantee you a HR job. You may end up in other streams also.
  • Your professional qualification can go for a toss when you are in job market. Job market is least bothered about your professional qualification or B School status. They need individuals who are interested in that job and can start from bottom.

Keeping these instances in mind, what is real HR and HR practices?

Any graduate or uneducated in the name of supervisor is practicing HR functions unknowingly to get things done. But he may not be able to tag his activities under the so called jargons like “Motivation”, “Appraisal”, “Hygiene factors” etc.

Any one who works professionally with commitment and dedication, and solve the problems thereby bridging gap between employer and employee is a real HR.

So, what can we do from our end to become better HR professionals?

  • Practice HR by interacting with almost everyone you see around from security to industry experts
  • Update yourself with journals so that your conversation will be rich in content.
  • Increase your contacts through social networks like twitter, FB, Linked-In.
  • Do almost everything possible to ensure that we are in HR zone.
  • Mainly, apply common sense with good communication. That only works out in practice. But, “common sense is not so common”

That’s all from my end. I would like to extend my gratitude to Beacons, who always co-operated well, with enthusiasm when situation demands, from the birth of L’Incarnate and thereafter. We are really happy that our juniors have taken it with the same spirit and are focusing on its development.

It’s said-“Do it, don’t merely speak of doing it”.. So ACT NOW

Best Wishes and Ever green regards
